Have you ever dreamed of joining the world's tennis elite and competing for the mythical title of the end of season Grand Finals? This new format is now part of the Tennis Manager 2022 calendar and will reward the most competitive among you. Let's delve into this new feature.
What is the Round Robin format?
The Round Robin format is a little different from the standard knock-out format that is used in the vast majority of tennis tournaments throughout the world. Instead of eliminating players until the final two, Round Robin allows players to play matches against every other player in the tournament before the classic knockout stages begin.
In the world of tennis, this method is widely used towards the end of the year when organising the ATP Finals and Next Gen Finals. The team at Tennis Manager want to emulate the real world of tennis as closely as we can, and this addition is vital to capturing the variety of tournament types that occur over the course of the sporting year.

When will we see it in Tennis Manager?
Tennis Manager 2022 will reflect the real calendar year as much as possible. During the "Promising Finals", the "MTL Tour Finals", the "WTL Tour Finals" and the "Junior Tour Finals", there will be an initial Round Robin format for all participants before continuing with the classic knockout format for the winners of the group stage. Getting to these tournaments won't be easy, however! To do so, your player must be within the very top echelons of the irrespective rankings and leagues to be accepted into the year-end tournaments. This makes the Round Robin format especially interesting in its rarity.

When it comes to the game itself, the result will look something like the image above (which is a work in progress). With the rosters being split into two groups, you'll be able to see all the results of the previous matches that determine the group rankings. If you can make it to the top two of the ranking in your group, you'll be promoted to the semi-final knockout stages. As with everything, it is these small but significant changes that we're putting forward in an attempt to make TM22 as realistic and immersive as possible for the tennis fans out there.
Until next week! --- Jeremy
